Episode 23: The Healing of a Shattered Soul
In episode 23 I recall how long a journey can take to reach a destination – specifically, a destination we had not intended. Long hours, days on end, aching wrists and arms found me typing a manuscript I have titled, The Healing of a Shattered Soul for FrontEdge Publishing. Their interest in my story, the encouragement from family and friends and my own aching heart led me to lay out for myself and you the sorrowful, heart wrenching and inspirational journey I’ve traveled since 2014. At the time of this podcast, I did not know if my memoir would be published.

Mindy’s Show Notes
Now in the hands of FrontEdge Publishing as I draft these show notes, I am not yet aware if I will have a contract with them. Their interest in my story, the encouragement from family and friends and my own aching heart led me to lay out for myself and you the sorrowful, heart wrenching and inspirational journey I’ve traveled over the past six and a half years. A visit with my dear friend in Connecticut prompted me to start writing in 2016, two years after the murders of my father and son, Reat. After 60,000 words found their way onto pages, with the assistance of Brooke Brundige-Latas, we placed what I would call a “first draft” in the hands of a publisher. It was not meant to be.
While this was my story, I also realized it to be a collective of broken hearts, shattered lives and a whole lot of humans helping other humans pick up the pieces. When people come into our lives it is not always by happenstance. I hope you follow me as I explain how one person led to another, who led to another, who helped me finish the manuscript and find an interested party (hopefully) to place it into print. Courage was indeed required and plenty of kindness from those around me! #courageouskindness
